Adam Fawcett is a theatre producer, playwright and fiction writer based in Melbourne.
As co-founder of Lab Kelpie, a not-for-profit independent theatre company dedicated to the production of new work by Australian playwrights, he has produced all of their works since 2012 including the 2016 Midsumma Premier Event Elegy and Katy Warner’s Spencer (nominated for two Green Room awards in 2018) and A Prudent Man, which won the audience choice award from over 400 productions at the 2016 Melbourne Fringe Festival and has since been programmed at the Brisbane, Darwin and Hawke’s Bay (NZ) Arts Festivals and in 2018 enjoyed a four month national tour.
In 2016 Adam also freelance produced Animal by Influx Theatre (Susie Dee, Kate Sherman and Nicci Wilks), which took home Best Direction, Best Ensemble, Best Lighting and Best Sound Design at the 2016 Green Room Awards and appeared at Dark Mofo in 2018.
As an emerging playwright and fiction writer, Adam chooses to prioritise the representation of queer stories in his work.
His first play, Become The One, was selected as winner of the 2018 Gasworks Playtime Stage Readings Event for Midsumma and is scheduled for production in 2019.
His second play, SISSY, received public readings at Seymour Centre in Sydney, Small and Loud at Arts Centre Melbourne and the Bradford Playhouse in Leeds in 2018, while his short play, Somewhere Only We Know, was recently performed in London.
He is the current recipient of a 2018 Jacky Winter Gardens residency.
His most-recent fiction work, The Anniversary, was published by n-Scribe magazine in 2017.
He is a proud member of the Australian Writers’ Guild.
