Adam Fawcett is a theatre producer, playwright and fiction writer based in Melbourne.
As co-founder of Lab Kelpie, a not-for-profit independent theatre company dedicated to the production of new work by Australian playwrights, he has produced all of their works since 2012 including the 2016 Midsumma Premier Event Elegy (with Gasworks) and Katy Warner’s latest two plays, Spencer and the Green Room nominated A Prudent Man, which in 2017 was programmed at the Brisbane, Darwin and Hawke’s Bay (NZ) Arts Festivals.
In 2016 Adam also freelance produced Animal by Influx (Susie Dee, Kate Sherman and Nicci Wilks), which took home Best Direction, Best Ensemble, Best Lighting and Best Sound Design at the 2016 Green Room Awards.
As a queer fiction writer and playwright, Adam chooses to prioritise the representation of LGBTQI+ stories in his work.
His most-recent fiction work, The Anniversary, was published by n-Scribe magazine, while his debut play Become The One was selected for the Playtime Stage Readings event at Gasworks Theatre as part of the 2018 Midsumma Festival. His latest work, SISSY, has been selected for a reading as part of Playlist, a new initiative from Siren Theatre Company and Seymour Centre Sydney to present new work from queer writers as part of the 2018 Sydney Mardi Gras.
In 2018 Adam will also collaborate with his partner Lyall Brooks on A World Of Our Own, a new Australian work confronting euthanasia, grief and social isolation that has been supported with a development season thanks to Maribyrnong Arts and Bluestone Church Arts Space.
He is a proud member of the Australian Writers’ Guild.
